What is Stanford V Chemotherapy?

The Stanford V is a chemotherapy regimen developed at Stanford Medical Center.  For you trivia buffs, the V doesn't refer to the number of drugs, but it was named that way because this was the fifth combination of drugs they tried.  It is a multiple drug treatment comprised of seven different chemotherapy drugs that are administered over a shorter period of time, but more frequently, than standard chemotherapy regimens such as MOPP or ABVD. It is believed that this regimen will prove to be at least as effective as ABVD, while being better tolerated and having fewer long term side effects. It is administered every week for 12 weeks for Hodgkin's disease, followed by 4 to 8 weeks of radiation.  The treatments are delivered in three repeated 4 week cycles.

Thanks to Mike Lach's Stanford V page , where I stole this table.  There's more information on Stanford V there, but it was last updated in 1995.
